KIDS MAKE A DIFFERENCE The SIJ Community Service Program invites you to join the Second and Third Grade Students in their efforts to collect gently used books for THE BIG SHOULDERS FUND OF CHICAGO. The Second Grade Community Service theme is “Education to Those in Need”. The Third Grade Community Service theme is “Poverty and Homelessness.” The Big Shoulders Fund provides support to Catholic schools in the neediest areas of inner-city Chicago. Please read about this wonderful organization. http://bigshouldersfund.org/ The Book Collection will start October 26th and will end on November 5th. There will be a bin for this SCHOOL WIDE collection in the front office and in the 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. Please encourage your student to look through their bookshelves at home and bring in one GENTLY USED book for the kids touched by Big Shoulders. Any books are appreciated! PLEASE - We do not want anyone buying anything new! Help the 2nd and 3rd grades in their mission to spread their kindness to this great organization. Much appreciation!
