Physical Education
The Physical Education program at St. Isaac Jogues concentrates on developing the “whole-person” – the religious, moral, social and academic dimensions, as well as the physical development. The P.E. curriculum includes a variety of games, physical activities and exercises. We focus on traditional and non-traditional team and individual sports, fitness, and team building. Many of our activities involve critical thinking skills, strategic planning, problem solving, and fundamental sports skills. We strive to develop lifelong behaviors that support skills for health and well-being. The PE curriculum is aligned with the Diocese of Joliet and the Illinois State Standards for physical education. Some of the sports we play are basketball, volleyball, tchoukball, team handball, and spikeball. Students at St. Isaac’s have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of physical activities. Our 6th through 8th grade students have Health Education incorporated into their P.E. curriculum. In Health we focus on Nutrition, Mental/Emotional Wellness, and Substance Abuse of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Our P.E. curriculum continues to grow as we incorporate the newest sports, games and fitness trends into our curriculum.
