St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Grade School Strategic Plan Summary
In 2010, the Diocese of Joliet concluded a two-year strategic planning process and issued a report entitled “Lighting the Path to Our Future.”  The report was commissioned as a method to examine and find ways to strengthen our schools’ Catholic Identity and excellence as outlined in this introductory statement excerpted from the report:

“Catholic schools have a strong and successful tradition in the Diocese of Joliet educating and forming young people in the Catholic faith and preparing students to be contributing members to our Church and world. In concert with the commitment of the U.S. Catholic Bishops to, “revisit and reaffirm our commitment to Catholic elementary and secondary Catholic schools as invaluable instruments in proclaiming the good news from one generation to the next,” the Diocese of Joliet is committed to ensuring the continuing excellence and availability of Catholic schools whose “mission is vital to the future of our young people, our nation and, most especially, our Church.”

Recognizing the importance of strategic planning to the success of Catholic schools, the Diocese of Joliet has required each Catholic school in the Diocese to prepare and submit a strategic plan to the Diocesan Catholic Schools Office.  The Catholic Schools Office has provided a strategic plan framework to guide our plan.

St. Isaac Jogues School is planning for a bright future by creating this document – our strategic plan.  While not a crystal ball, our strategic plan is based on who we are: uniquely Catholic and spiritually strong- and who we are becoming-an educational institution that educates the whole child recognizing each student’s unique gifts, needs and challenges.  We look to our parish family for continued support as we educate future leaders; engage alumni; maintain the facilities; and provide opportunities for faculty to learn and grow.

The primary questions to be addressed in the strategic plan include:
  • What strengths and traditions of the School will serve as the grounding point for a vision of the future and directions for growth?
  • What is the next level of excellence and quality that will define the future of the school?
  • What enhancements will be needed to successfully attain the vision for the future that will best fit with the mission of the school?
  • What new directions, programs or potential organizational models need to be considered to better serve future generations with continued quality Catholic education?

Our strategic plan is made up of five areas of focus: a) Catholic identity b) academic excellence c) leadership and strategic planning d) enrollment, finances and facilities and e) stakeholder communications.  The strategic plan should be viewed as a living, dynamic document designed to guide or provide a path to create the best version of St. Isaac Jogues.  As such, we envision that the plan will be updated on an annual basis reflecting measurements of past initiatives, current state assessments and revised initiatives for the future.  The plan will also identify the current year initiatives that the Pastor, Principal and School Commission wish to undertake during the coming year.  Each current year initiative will identify one or more of the theological or cardinal virtues it is attempting to cultivate or to follow.  A School Commission member will be appointed as Committee Chair for each of the five focus areas, responsible for implementing individual initiatives.
