Student Support Services
Through early intervention, progress monitoring, and individualized supports, our resource program at St. Isaac Jogues school helps students who are struggling academically or developmentally. Our specialists focus on providing students the individualized assistance and support that they require to be successful. Our resource team includes a primary reading specialist, two academic interventionists, a licensed speech language therapist, and a licensed occupational therapist.
At St. Isaacs, we emphasize early screening and skilled classroom interventions. In preschool, students are evaluated within the first few weeks of school. In kindergarten and first grades, students are tested regularly to identify and assess if any accommodations or interventions are necessary. Teachers can request additional testing to assist in the identification of special needs. If a student has been determined eligible to receive special education services, the resource team will work together to develop a tailored plan with clear, measurable goals for the student. For students with identified needs, support is provided through both pull-out and push-in programs that match student needs with appropriate strategies and methods. The progress of students is monitored through a variety of measures including universal screenings, diagnostic testing, and growth monitoring assessments.

Speech Therapy
St. Isaac Jogues offers speech language services to students who are eligible for support. Students receive support services through our D181 assigned speech pathologist and through our SIJ private speech pathologist, Jennifer Houch. Jennifer provides a combination of direct instruction, small group work, and teacher/parent consultations. Students may receive speech therapy and individualized instruction in the areas of articulation, language, voice, and/or fluency.
occupational therapy
St. Isaac Jogues offers occupational therapy services to students who are eligible for support. We have an occupational therapist, Munira Shakir who assists students with their fine and gross motor skills both inside and outside of the classroom. She works with students in our sensory room to help children to develop the skills they need to grow into functional, independent adults.
