Reading is the core skill for all instruction and it is our hope that throughout the summer all of our SIJ students will pick up a book or books to read. SIJ is launching a very simple, easy to succeed, summer reading initiative. The reading log for each of your children will be used as a ticket for a celebration of our summer readers. Our goal for each child would be 20 minutes of reading a day, but all students who keep a log and have the log validated by a parent will be eligible. We are also working in conjunction with the Hinsdale Library. All of the SIJ students who sign up for the summer reading program through the library can also bring in the library log. Attached are materials for the launch of our summer reading program. There are logs, a bingo game and other ideas to make summer a FUN time to read!
