WE INVITE, WE INCLUDE, WE INSPIRE, WE IGNITEDo you have broken, old, stubby crayons?
Don’t throw them away! Donate them to SIJ!!! The SIJ School Community Service Program invites you to join the Second Grade in their efforts to collect USED crayons for their CRAYONATHON. The second grade Community Service theme is “Education to Those in Need”. This grade has a bin in the front office and in their classrooms for this collection. Please come in anytime to give away your old crayons or send them to school with your student! We encourage all grades to participate! The second grade will donate the crayons to an organization called SCARCE in Glen Ellyn. SCARCE recycles the crayons to create Super crayons. They take the crayons and peel them, color sort them and melt them. The melted crayons are poured into molds to form larger crayons to be used by children with special needs. Please read about this wonderful organization. http://www.scarceecoed.org/ The children are very excited and proud about this project. We thank you for your involvement!
