Admission Policies and Procedures
Admission Criteria
Saint Isaac Jogues School is open to students of any race, gender or ethnic origin. Preference is given to children of registered, active parishioners.* The order of priority for admission are:
When applications exceed available enrollment openings, a wait-list is maintained for each grade. The order of this list is based on the priority criteria shown above.
* Determination of “active” parishioner status is made by Pastor but implies regular weekend Mass attendance.
- Children of active parishioners who have other children already attending Saint Isaac Jogues.
- Newly-registering children of active parishioners.
- Transfer students from other Catholic schools.
- Children of Catholic non-parishioners.
- Children of non-Catholic families.

Important Considerations
- Kindergarten students must be five years of age by September 1 of the school year. First grade students must be six years of age by September 1 of the school year.
- Registration for all grades is conducted during the school year (you will be notified).
- Class size for grades 1-8 does not exceed 30 students.
- Enrollment at Saint Isaac Jogues does not guarantee bus service. Bus service is available only where homes can be serviced by established routes.
- Students must have a copy of their birth and baptismal certificates on file in the school office.Transferring students may be admitted to Saint Isaac Jogues on receipt of their records – attendance, health, academics – from the transferring school. Until these records are received, a new student’s status is considered probationary and subject to review.
Physical Examination Requirements
- A current medical physical examination is required prior to each year a student will participate in the SIJ Athletic Program (option beginnning in 5th grade). Physical exam forms must be submitted to the office prior to the start of the sports program.
- A dental examination is required (by state law) upon entrance to kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grades. Dental exam forms must be submitted to the office prior to the first day of school.
- A medical physical examination is required (by state law) upon entrance to kindergarten (including a lead certificate) and again to 6th grade – or to any grade if a student has not previously submitted a physical examination form to St. Isaac Jogues. Physical exam forms must be submitted to the office prior to the first day of school.

Student Records
Parents have the right to review their child’s permanent file before it is transferred to another school. This right extends to non-custodial parents, in the absence of a court order to the contrary. Parents who wish to review records must first make an appointment with the school office.
