Today the 5th grade classes heard from SIJ, Fenwick and US Military Academy graduate 1st Lieutenant Jack Finan. His talk with the 5th grade class answered the question, How does what we learn in Religion class transfer to the world outside the walls of St. Isaac Jogues. His story started with heartfelt comments about the power of prayer for those he leads and the support of his community back home. 1st Lieutenant Finan then gave the 5th graders an overview of his education and his responsibilities as a military officer. In the second half of his presentation the SIJ graduate gave examples how learning how to lead a virtuous life at SIJ and Fenwick led to success at the US Military Academy and even on the ground in Afganistan. He tackled the Catholic virtues of obedience, orderliness, perseverance, patriotism, responsibility & circumspection by giving the students a story how each has helped him towards a successful career in the military serving others. This message was received well by the young students as the military leader summarized with the idea that little things are important and choosing the hard way is most likely the right way. In a word, the presentation was INSPIRATIONAL. Thank You First Lieutenant Finan.
